Nebraska Communities Invited to Learn About the Main Street Program

Lincoln NE- The Nebraska Main Street program invites community leaders and citizens from across the state to come and learn more about comprehensive downtown revitalization and how they can benefit from the information, resources and technical assistance available to communities in Nebraska through the Main Street program as they work to make their ideas become reality. An informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 10:00am at the Majestic Theatre, 310 Main Street in downtown Wayne, NE. Following the information meeting, those who wish to stay are welcome to attend the Lunch and Learn program provided as an exclusive membership benefit to designated Main Street and Associate Member communities. This will give attendees to see the Main Street program in action. Cost is $10 per person and RSVP is required.

From filling vacant storefronts and reusing upper floors to marketing, communication and promotion, the Main Street program has helped communities across the state build a strong and sustainable foundation for their downtown business districts. All Nebraska communities regardless of population or organizational capacity have the opportunity to tap into this internationally recognized program and all that it has to offer. Strong and healthy business districts lead to strong and healthy communities.
18 Nebraska communities currently participate in the Nebraska Main Street program as Designated Main Street and Associate Member communities. Participating communities are hard at work creating thriving downtown business districts using the Main Street Four Point Approach®. The Nebraska Main Street program is an accredited coordinating member of the National Trust Main Street Center of the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Washington, D.C. The Nebraska Main Street program provides information, training and hands on technical assistance to participating communities statewide. Affiliation with the National Trust Main Street Center brings additional opportunities for learning, networking and resources.
