Celebrating Entrepreneurship In Our State

August is Member Mania month for GROW Nebraska and it’s a great time to celebrate entrepreneurship in our state. We are looking forward to many events this month with our open houses, the Nebraska State Fair retail store, and preparations for a busy holiday season.  We welcome these new GROW Nebraska members and thank you for supporting our local entrepreneurs!

The Brenmar Company, LaVista, NE

Brenmar has become a nationwide leader in the foodservice supply industry.  The company represents a one stop shop because of the wide range of products offered such as carryout bags and a broad range of packaging for bakery, deli, meat and produce departments. Brenmar also has expanded beyond supermarkets to include many other retail concerns, as well as foodservice and manufacturing companies, selling such items as thermal printers, labels, fastener systems and packaging. In keeping with market trends, Brenmar has moved into general merchandise for supermarkets.

100th Meridian Museum, Cozad, NE

Discover the history of Cozad, Nebraska, the 100th Meridian City. The 100th Meridian Museum in Cozad is a local museum open Memorial Day to Labor Day. Hours are 10:00 – 4:30 Tuesday -Saturday. Come see the historic touring coach, original popcorn stand, local military photos and many exhibits about the Cozad area.

Deb Kubik Designs, Auburn, NE

Deb Kubik Designs creates originally designed fused glass plates, art pieces and jewelry. The pieces range from realistic landscapes, floral & cloudscapes that depict the rural Nebraska areas, to abstract pieces all done in fused glass. They use glass frit to create a watercolor look on glass to create depth of color and detail. In some of the pieces, they use whole pieces of glass to create stronger color with bold pieces of solid glass fused to each other. All of the pieces are original in design and created individually; they are all then fired in a glass kiln to fused the glass together. No two pieces are exactly the same, giving each individual their own unique piece of original glass artwork. They also use recycled wine and beer bottles to make serving pieces or wall decor.

OmaLinda Enterprises, Anselmo, NE

Linda Fettig is the founder of Omalinda Enterprises. She previously was the Executive Director of the Nebraska Rural Development Commission and spent most of the past 30 years working with development issues pertinent to organizations, communities and small businesses.Linda has been a speaker at the local, regional, state, multi-state, and national level on rural development issues. Her works on development have been published in trade journals and conference proceedings in addition to her books, “The ABCs of Development – It’s About Building Capacity” and “Rule of Thumb: A Guide to Small Business Growth”.
