Share Your Expertise and Increase Web Visits

Most of us don’t consider ourselves writers. We don’t even consider ourselves experts. But is that true? As entrepreneurs, we have much to share about what we know. I feel confident I could teach a class in web design, maybe even write a book about it. Sure, it may not be the best book ever written, but I could do it, and someone could learn something from it.
Why not share your expertise with the rest of the world? The new “hip” web-related trend is to write articles and submit them to free article marketing sites. I know, I know, you’re saying “Erin, I don’t have time to write articles! Are you crazy?” The bottom line is, I get emails and phone calls every day from people wanting to know how to increase visits to their web site. I’ll be honest, it’s like everything else, it takes work and it takes time. While we all wish there was a magic wand we could use to make our web sites appear #1 on Google, the fact of the matter is there isn’t – JUST optimizing your site may not get you there, JUST having a blog may not get you there, JUST changing your content regularly may not get you there, but doing ALL of these things may get you there. Getting your web site to the top is an art, and it takes several steps and time, and you should try everything you can. This is one of those things.
Don’t think you have the time to write articles? What about that vacation you and your family are taking – I’m sure there’s time in the car or on the airplane you’re trying to kill. Do you read before you go to bed? Try putting a pad and pen next on your nightstand instead, and write a few paragraphs a night. Want some “you” time? Just take 15 minutes a day, sit on your patio or deck without the kids and spouse, and start sharing your expertise by writing your articles a little bit at a time.
