The Facebook Competition Algorithm

You may be wondering what the brilliant staff of GROW Nebraska has mathematically correlated to find our Facebook winners each week. Well, I’m about to let you in on the secret.

After the deadline for each Facebook Competition, I (Ashley Blickenstaff) write all of the names down on either a piece of paper or a note card in numerical order from first response to last response. I then take this piece of paper and a bowl that contains a cut up note card with just numbers on it upstairs. On the way up the stairs, I shake the bowl to make sure that all numbers have an equal chance. Once I get upstairs I hold the bowl 1.7 feet above Grandma Norma’s head. She slowly and surely reaches her hand up and over the lip of the bowl extracting one, and only one, number.

I then take the number that is drawn and correlate it to the number on the piece of paper, find the name, go back downstairs and report the winner on the GROW Nebraska Facebook page.

And this is the scientific algorithm for the GROW Nebraska Facebook Random Drawing and now you know the rest of the story.
