New eCommerce Site On The Way

ecommerceTwo years ago, GROW Nebraska ventured into online sales. Prior to that time we only had basic PayPal buy buttons for GROW gift baskets. The sales during the holiday season were strong, and with the changing economy and the changing media world, we decided it was time to make the move. We launched ShopGrowNebraska.org in October of 2007 – right before the holiday season. Since that time, we have sold just over $21,500 in Nebraska product. Since GROW Nebraska returns 60% of all orders to our Nebraska entrepreneurs, that is almost $13,000 that has been returned into the Nebraska economy and small business bank account.

I learned on Good Morning America Friday morning that overall holiday sales will be down 1% this year totally approximately $4 billion dollars (better than the 3% they were down for 2008). However, while retail in general is slowing, according to a Reuters article dated Nov 2, 2009, ONLINE sales will be UP 8%.

Because of this growing trend in eCommerce, we are working to improve our online shopping experience. We have teamed up with JM Web Designs to develop a new an improved eCommerce site. Our new site will include new features such as multiple shipping addresses for orders, larger product images, business information and videos, and more refined navigation. We hope that these improvements will turn more “product research” into sales.

The new site is set to launch the end of this quarter with products continuing to be added in the first quarter of 2010. We hope you’ll come visit!
