You Got to Love Technology Unless it Doesn’t Work

My husband and I bought a house and moved in this last weekend. The move went well and we have gotten everything into our house. I called prior to us moving in to get the internet instillation set up. We have fiber connections in our house so we have access to really fast internet. My husband is a technology person so we got the fastest (24 megabytes). To put that in perspective, the woman, who takes internet orders all day, was surprised that we could get those kinds of speeds.

I had Tuesday off to work on unpacking and to have the internet installed. The installation person came and told us that fiber takes longer to install, which was not a big deal since I was going to be home all day. This was about 8:30 AM. The install job took until about 3:30. The person who was doing the installation said about everything went wrong that could. The router that the company sent us didn’t work, the wire that was suppose to be hooked up in the house construction didn’t work, and his installation computer was not running the wireless internet test right. However, he finally got it going.

Yesterday, I was trying to get my work account set up properly since we changed internet providers. I could get my email in but couldn’t send out. I called tech support from both companies (our internet provider and my work email account provider) who said that I needed to talk to the other company. After much trying, I got it working! (I was excited because I was getting rather grumpy.) It wasn’t completely fixed but I could send e-mails.

As I mentioned previously, my husband is very tech savvy so he fixed all the bugs and asked me the appropriate questions to get things fixed when he got home. He is part of my technology team and GROW Nebraska’s.
