Longtime GROW Nebraska member Christi Anderson is a tremendously talented woman, painting glassware with decorations to enhance a season, a celebration, or simply to provide a joyous decoration. She and her mother, Carol O’Connell, had the brainstorm to transform a dairy and pig barn on O’Connell’s farmstead into an antique and collectibles shop featuring Anderson’s glassware and the work of 30 additional consignors.
The best word to describe the shop is eclectic. Products on offer range from vintage dishes and collectibles to Anderson’s glassware and jewelry, Nebraska foods, fabric bears and more. If you’re looking for a gift, you are in the right place. Gifts abound for men, women, weddings, baby showers and everything in between.
Anderson and O’Connell want to provide a stress-free and unhurried shopping experience where one-of-a-kind pieces can be purchased. As the in-house artist, Anderson is able to personalize gifts, including wine glasses, toasting glasses, and plates. The Red Shed is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., but O’Connell also opens the shop when people stop by if she’s home. It’s located on Highway 183 seven miles north of Holdrege between Road 739 and Road 740. If you’re looking for a great stop on the rolling prairie, the Red Shed is the place for you!
