State Fair Mania

When I was a kid, my family never ventured to the State Fair. I lived in Lincoln for at least 5 years before I ventured over to the State Fair grounds on a hot August day (unlike the wonderful 70 degrees we’re seeing today). I now find myself looking forward to the Nebraska State Fair every year, where myself, my husband and in-laws come to enjoy greasy food, entertainment, and of course the GROW Nebraska General Store.

Now that I work with GROW Nebraska, the Nebraska State Fair is not just a family event, but something staff prepares for months in advance! In the early summer months the planning begins – buying fencing for the perimeter, letting members know, promotion, signage, inventory, bags, tissue paper, stickers, lights, electricity …. there is really a lot that goes in the preparation, but by the end of August, we are organized and ready to go.

This year we have 51 members signed up for our State Fair General Store in Ag Hall. Be sure to stop by and visit and look at all of the fine Nebraska products GROW Nebraska has to offer. We’re between Daisy the cow and the Christmas Trees. We’ll have members sampling and working the booth, so you’ll also get to meet some fine Nebraska entrepreneurs!
