Recharging Your Battery

We all need a break from time to time. This summer my family took a couple of short vacations. I always call them getaways, because married to a farmer we can never be gone more than 48 hours at a time! In fact growing up on a farm I knew not to even think of a vacation unless it had rained. So, still to this day every time it rains the first thing I think about is a vacation!
Our first one was to Kansas City. It was a great trip to see the Royals win, and spend a day at Worlds of Fun. We rode the rides as the sweat dripped down our bodies in the 90 degree heat. Even though it was hot, it was a chance to get away for a while. I always come back with new ideas.
Our next trip took us to upstate New York. I had never been to that area before, but soon realized how beautiful it is with all the trees. I was only there for two days but my daughter who was there for the summer was more than ready to come home to open spaces!
Sometimes we just need a little change of scenery, a smile or phone call from a friend to keep us going. It is the same way with our businesses; we just need to look at things in a different perspective once in a while. It may not always work to go on a ‘get-away’ but a walk around the block can do wonders at times! Or even check out the state fair this weekend.
Now is a great time to get keyed up for the fourth quarter. This is harvest time for most businesses. And since it rained last night there might be a get-away in the future!
