Our Flavors of Nebraska adventure is moving east along the Republican River, through Holbrook (world famous home of GROW Nebraska, stop by the gallery!) and then north on Highway 283 to Lexington for a visit to Mac’s Creek Winery and Vineyard. When people initially hear the word wine, they think France, Italy, California – but Nebraska? You need to be thinking Nebraska for wine! The growing Nebraska wine industry counts Mac’s Creek Winery & Vineyard as one of the jewels in its crown.
The McFarland family has created a place of culture, elegance, and great tasting wine. As you pull off the road into the parking lot, you see grape vines all around, setting the stage for an excellent Nebraska experience. The tasting room offers a beautiful place to savor wine, view the vineyard, and purchase other Nebraska products.
If your timing is good, you can join the McFarlands for an event, like Friday with Friends where they provide free appetizers and entertainment and wine is available by the glass and/or bottle from 5-9 p.m. You can view upcoming events on their web site, macscreekvineyards.com.
Janell Anderson Ehrke, the CEO of GROW, really likes their Brianna. Myself, I’m a big fan of Celtic Aire. I know you’ll enjoy your stop at Mac’s Creek – they really know how to host a good time.
